ISL side Mohun Bagan sign Dejan Dražić on ₹2.85 crore-per-season deal

Serbian forward agrees to a two-year contract with an option for a further year

Mohun Bagan have completed the signing of former FC Goa forward Dejan Dražić, with the Serbian attacker agreeing to a two-year contract that includes an option to extend for a further season, Khel Now can reveal.

The move represents one of the club’s biggest pieces of business ahead of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 season as the Kolkata giants begin rebuilding their foreign contingent after losing last season’s title to their arch-rivals East Bengal.

“Dejan Dražić has completed his move to Mohun Bagan on a two-year deal with an option to extend for one more year. He will earn approximately $300,000 (₹2.85 crore) per season,” a source tracking the deal told Khel Now.

The 30-year-old arrives after an impressive campaign with FC Goa, where he scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 22 appearances across all competitions during the 2025-26 season.

His signing comes at an important time for Mohun Bagan, with long-serving foreign stars Jason Cummings and Dimitri Petratos both expected to leave after their contracts expired at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Dražić is expected to play a major role in the club’s next phase as they prepare for another title challenge under the new ISL structure.

Affectionately dubbed the “Serbian El Shaarawy” during his early years in Europe, Dražić arrived in India carrying an impressive footballing resume.

He came through the youth ranks at Partizan Belgrade before breaking into professional football with OFK Beograd, where his performances attracted interest from across Europe.

In 2015, Spanish side Celta Vigo signed him on a five-year deal, while he also spent time on loan at Real Valladolid.

Although he never fully established himself in La Liga, Dražić enjoyed some of the most successful years of his career in Slovakia with Slovan Bratislava, winning two Slovak Super Liga titles and gaining regular European experience, including the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League.

Success in Indian football

FC Goa brought Dražić to India ahead of the 2024-25 season.

His first campaign saw him score two goals and record one assist in 27 appearances as he adapted to Indian football.

A year later, he emerged as one of the most influential attackers in the league. His return of 10 goals and five assists helped FC Goa challenge on multiple fronts and firmly established him as one of the ISL’s standout foreign players.

That consistency is one of the reasons Mohun Bagan moved quickly to secure his signature.

What next for Mohun Bagan?

With the ISL 2026-27 expected to begin on 4 September and clubs now taking greater responsibility for the league’s commercial operations following the recent agreement between stakeholders, attention has rapidly shifted back to squad building.

The challenge now will be different.

Performing at FC Goa is one thing. Performing in front of a packed Salt Lake Stadium with expectations of silverware every season is another altogether.
