Newcastle United are set to face Bayer Leverkusen in a feisty pre-season friendly fixture at St. James’ Park on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Ahead of the start of their Premier League 2026-27 campaign against Liverpool on August 23, the Magpies will treat this fixture as a chance to fine-tune their new-look squad under head coach Matthias Jaissle.
Newcastle made a decent start to their pre-season campaign, beating Darlington FC 3-0. After a 1-1 draw with Gateshead, the Magpies sealed a 4-1 win over Bristol City and a 2-1 victory over Valencia. However, they suffered a demoralising 3-1 loss to Everton in their last outing.
