All players who have played for both Bayern Munich and Arsenal

The Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and the English Premier League side Arsenal are now considered two of the most prominent football clubs in Europe. They are now all set to face each other in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League 2026-27 edition.

The Bavarians have established their dominance in the German top division, and the Gunners have started to enjoy success in English football once again. Because of their consistent performances, the two clubs are putting up strong fights against the top European clubs.

Led by Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich came very close to clinching the UCL title last year, but were knocked out by PSG during the semi-finals. Similarly, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal also missed out on clinching the European silverware after their defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

Even though the two clubs compete in different domestic leagues, they share a connection through players who have represented both sides during their careers. Lukas Podolski and Serge Gnabry are the two notable names who have donned the jerseys for both sides.

Players who have played for both Bayern and Arsenal

1. Lukas Podolski

Lukas Podolski started his career in the youth setup for FC Köln. He made his debut for their senior team during the 2003-04 season, and his performances caught the attention of Bayern Munich, who signed him in 2006. Podolski had a powerful left foot and was capable of scoring from distance.

The German international forward joined the Gunners in 2012, where he played under Arsene Wenger. He made an immediate impact, contributing goals and assists while featuring alongside several established Premier League stars. Podolski went on to become one of the most recognisable German forwards of his generation after his top performances for both his clubs and his nation.

2. Serge Gnabry

After competing in several youth setups, Serge Gnabry finally found his way to the Gunners’ youth setup in 2011. He slowly progressed to the first team and made his debut for the senior side in 2012. The German winger failed to be impactful in the English Premier League under the Gunners and was loaned to West Brom for some time.

At the end of his loan spell, Gnabry returned to Germany and joined Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. His performances in the German top division were quite noticeable, and it helped him earn a move to Bayern in 2017. He initially spent his time on loan at TSG Hoffenheim, but the German winger later on became one of the main men in the attacking setup for the Bavarians.
