After two and a half months, the summer transfer deadline day is upon us. Most top-tier leagues around the world will close the transfer market on Tuesday, with clubs having until midnight to complete the deals for any players they want to sign or sell.

Despite the transfer window lasting 79 days, many players are yet to see their futures resolved. Some have publicly demanded a transfer, while others are looking for a way out, having dropped down the pecking order.

Either way, clubs are working hard to complete the signings of their targeted players up until the last minute. Let’s look at the five biggest names who could yet leave their clubs on transfer deadline day.

5. Richarlison (Tottenham Hotspur)

It is safe to say that Richarlison’s four-year spell at Tottenham Hotspur has been largely disappointing. Recurring injury issues have led to the Brazilian scoring just 32 times in 134 matches across all competitions – completely unable to justify the £60 million deal.

Following the arrival of Omar Marmoush, Richarlison is unlikely to be a starter, and he has been tipped to return to former club Everton. The player himself admitted that he would be happy to return to his “beloved club”, but said that “never again will anyone decide my future for me”.

A £35 million price tag has been quoted, although reports say that the move has stalled due to financial disputes. If both parties can solve the problems, this seems like a win-win move for both parties.

4. Alejandro Balde (Barcelona)

After being dropped from the matchday squad against Elche, reports from Spain said that Alejandro Balde is not a part of Hansi Flick’s plans. This led to the Spanish international being strongly linked with a move to Manchester United, who are in desperate need of a left-back to provide competition to Luke Shaw.

Fabrizio Romano revealed that United engaged in fresh talks with Barcelona on Sunday, with the Catalans asking for a reported £34 million. The biggest problem may be that Balde himself made it clear that he would love to stay and fight for his place. However, if Barcelona push for his sale, this deal might be completed today.

3. Enzo Fernández (Chelsea)

This has been going on since the start of the transfer window, but Argentine journalist Uriel Iugt revealed that Enzo Fernández is very close to moving to Manchester City. Enzo Maresca’s side opened club-to-club talks with Chelsea on Monday. The major pain point is Chelsea’s demand of at least £120 million, although City are looking to negotiate that price down.

The player himself is keen on a move to City, having expressed a desire to leave Chelsea after publicly revealing his intention to move to Real Madrid. If this deal is completed for £120 million, it would make Fernández one of the most expensive signings of all time.

2. Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid)

Reports from Turkey revealed that Real Madrid are looking to offload midfielder Eduardo Camavinga for €70 million, with Galatasaray being strongly linked with a transfer deadline day move for the French international. Turkish journalist Ali Naci Küçük reported that Gala are in constant contact with Los Blancos, but are looking to negotiate the asking price down to €35 million.

With Galatasaray having already signed some big names, including Rafael Leao, Camavinga’s signing would likely be one of the biggest moves in the history of the Turkish Super League, comparable to the transfer of Victor Osimhen.

1. Julián Álvarez (Atlético Madrid)

This is a move that looks likely to happen sooner rather than later, but the question remains: to where? The Atlético Madrid hierarchy has made it abundantly clear that there is no chance that they would sell Julián Álvarez to Barcelona, although the player has pushed hard for the move.

With a move to LaLiga ruled out, Arsenal appear to be the only realistic alternative for the Argentine striker. Álvarez’s relationship with the Atleti fans has deteriorated significantly. He was booed during the team’s last game, and reportedly skipped three group training sessions.

This is one to watch until the transfer window shuts.
