I don't feel sorry for Liverpool- Kevin De Bruyne

The Belgian has voiced out his opinion regarding the title race in a very upfront manner.

Manchester City and Liverpool were involved in one of the most gripping title battles in recent history where the Cityzens came out as victors and lifted the Premier League trophy for the fourth time. The intense title challenge which saw Liverpool collect their best ever points total (97), they came up short to the eventual winners by a single point.

Despite being pushed till the last gameweek, Kevin De Bruyne has expressed his acknowledgement to the runners-up but cannot feel any sympathy for the Reds. Speaking in that context, he said, “It's a remarkable effort, but it means that we were just better than them in the end. I don't feel sorry for them because I don't think they'd feel sorry for us. I don't think anybody felt sorry about the way we went out of the Champions League. You take it.”

“I know how they feel because you're going to feel disappointed. We'd feel the same if it happened to us. But we're still competitors. It's been a great battle. I can understand the feelings they have but to feel sorry for them is maybe going a little too far.", said the 27-year-old.

Although his team has had a relatively successful season and are in contention of an unprecedented domestic treble, the Belgian international had a mixed bag of a season where had had to spend long spells on the sidelines due to knee injuries on two occasions. Featuring a meagre 18 times this season, the playmaker yet notched up 10 assists.

He managed to feature in short spells towards the end of the campaign and was able to contribute in the final stretches of the title run-in. Regarding a frustrating campaign marred by injuries, the midfielder said that, “It makes up for it in a way but obviously it's not been the most fun season. It's been one of those years where I started really badly with two big injuries. I came back in the right way but obviously, my body couldn't cope with all the games.”

Speaking ahead of the F.A. Cup final against Watford on Saturday, the midfielder said that, "It's good to be back with the team for the prizes, the Brighton game and now the final.” Eyes will be on the midfield maestro in the Wembley Stadium as he will surely be a threat after regaining his match fitness.
