Pep Guardiola dismisses Juventus rumours
The Spaniard was furious and disappointed with the newspapers spreading the rumours.
With the 2018-19 season now down to its last set of fixtures, transfer rumours have already started surrounding players. The latest target of the rumours was though not a player, but Pep Guardiola himself.
The manager of Manchester City made news over a speculation directing him towards taking up the managerial reigns at Juventus next season. The news suddenly came out of nowhere and naturally spread like a wildfire.
Serie A giants Juve, who signed Cristiano Ronaldo last summer are one of the central points of focus for rumours recently. There were also reports suggesting the Portuguese could be joined by his former Real Madrid teammate Marcelo next season but nothing is official yet. Speculations like such have put the club into a lot of pressure already.
As for Guardiola, he rubbished the talks of his move to the Turin-based club. Speaking after City’s routine win against Watford in the Premier League, the Spaniard said, “I have two more years here and I am going to move? Impossible.”
“Except if they sack me. Then after, I go home. But if Manchester City want me I will stay for two more years and hopefully another one,” he added.
City, who seized the top position from Liverpool last week after the Reds’ goalless draw in the Merseyside Derby, are the frontrunners in the race for the title. The defending champions had a shaky Christmas period as they lost a couple of games against Crystal Palace and Leicester City in particular.

However, they bounced back strong immediately after and even closed down the 10-point gap between them and the then first placed Liverpool by defeating the Merseysiders 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
Being on top of the table the club are on route to defend their title this year. Though Guardiola would be the happiest man there is, amidst the rumours of his move away from England, he will have a lot of questions to answer.
Nevertheless, since the last time he addressed the media, he was assertive enough to rubbish all the transfer talks. “I am not going to go to Juventus in the next two years.”
Even as the 48-year-old said so, he went on to express his disappointment with the newspapers, saying, “Why when someone says something on Twitter do the big newspapers say that for the next four years Pep is going to Juventus?”

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich gaffer advised the speculators to rather call the him, his agents or the clubs in question, to know the actual situation rather than spread rumours. “I feel sorry for Massimiliano (Allegri),” he said at the end.
