The German has had the opportunity to pit his wits against both the Spaniard and Jose Mourinho in the Premier League.

Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp had described his fellow Manchester City counterpart Pep Guardiola as the ‘world’s best manager’, a few weeks ago when the two sides met in the Premier League at Anfield. In a recent interaction with Sky Germany, the 51-year-old played a quick-fire round Q&A round. During this round, he was asked on who he preferred as the best coach between Jose Mourinho and Guardiola and he once again picked the City manager.

The German later went on to explain his choice saying, “ It’s not about better.”

“It’s not about a comparison with Jose, Pep is doing alright. So you could have asked me any other name. I think Pep is the best coach in the world,” he went on to explain.

Guardiola was a decent player during his time at Barcelona and is no doubt one of the most successful managers in the world. Under his legacy, the Blaugrana also famously won the treble - La Liga, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League in 2009.

He also had a wonderful tenure in Germany at Bayern Munich where he won the Bundesliga three times while winning the DFB Pokal twice and the UEFA Super Cup once. It was also the time when Guardiola developed the famous rivalry against the then Borussia Dortmund side managed by none other than Klopp.

In 2016, Guardiola joined Premier League side Manchester City and also led them to a title win in the following season where the Cityzens became the first club in the league to reach 100 points. His famous passing style of play earned him the title of a ‘tactical genius’.

On the other hand, Jose Mourinho, too, has had a remarkable managerial career during which he was in charge of several top clubs in Europe such as Porto, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea. Like Guardiola, the Portuguese manager too won the prestigious treble- Serie A, Coppa Italia and UEFA Champions League in 2010 with the Nerazzurri.

However, career came into limelight when he was in charge of Chelsea. During his two stints with the Blues, the 55-year-old won the Premier League and League Cup thrice each while winning the FA Cup and FA Community Shield once.

Mourinho is very frequently involved in controversies and in fact in an interview in 2004, he called himself as ‘the Special One’, and the title is very commonly used by the media to address him.

Thus, Mourinho and Guardiola are two of the most decorated managers in the world and Klopp has had the opportunity to play against both of them. However, the ‘Normal One’- as he suggested to be called when he joined the Reds, prefers the latter as the best coach in the world and has previously also expressed his admiration towards him.
