Antonio Conte: Unhappy with players, looking to sign midfielders
Nerazzurri sits at the second position, just a single point behind defending champions Juventus.
Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte has revealed his ideas of bringing in midfield reinforcements in the January transfer window. The former Chelsea boss expressed that he is unhappy with some of the midfield players and wants to make some signings to add more steel at the heart of the field.
Conte was fuming when Inter narrowly managed a 4-3 win over Sassuolo despite leading 4-1 at a point of time. The 50-year old tactician is not happy with the body language of the players and is also not satisfied with his options in midfield.
The midfield trio that started against Sassuolo in Seri A had players like Roberto Gagliardini, Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic, as their star midfielder Stefano Sensi was out with injury. Barella was decent but could not replicate the creativity that Sensi brings to the table.

Therefore Conte reportedly has an eye on Manchester United's Nemanja Matic and FC Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic.
Matic is in the last year of his contract and has struggled to make it to the starting consistently. Rakitic also has not been a consistent starter for the La Liga reigning champions ever since the arrival of young Frenkie De Jong from Ajax.
Keeping the negatives aside, it was a match where Inter showed their attacking instinct as both Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku combined really well and scored a brace each.
The young Argentine striker who has been turning heads recently for club and country spoke to Italian broadcaster Rai Sport after the game revealing how Conte was not happy with the attitude of the players.
“He [Conte] wasn’t happy. We had to close out the game and play with more peace of mind. I’m personally happy with my performance, I made a special dedication to my mother because it’s her birthday today, but you can’t end up suffering from a game that we had in our hands. That’s what the coach told us.”

“We need to win on Wednesday [against Borussia Dortmund]. We have to work hard these three days to approach the match in the best possible way. How is my partnership with Lukaku is going? Very well, he’s a great champion, he’s doing a great job. We’re getting to know each other day after day to get the best out of the partnership.”
