Top 10 goalscorers of Serie A 2021-22

Some of these players were playing for the first time in Serie A.

The Italian Serie A saw its third different winner in as many years. Italian and European giants AC Milan are back at the top of the Italian League after a gap of 11 years. This was AC Milan’s 19th Serie A title. It was a competitive season which went on till the last match of the season with Inter and Milan both in contention, Milan eventually coming out on top.

With 1089 goals scored in the 380 games, there was an abundance of goal. Here is a look at the top 10 goal scorers of Serie A in 2021-22.

10. Mario Pasalic (13 Goals)

Mario Pasalic had a very productive season in the midfield for Atalanta. Having been loaned out by Chelsea for many seasons, Pasalic finally signed for Atalanta in 2020. The Croatian showed what he is capable off in the recently concluded season after scoring 13 goals whilst playing in midfield.

However despite his brilliant performance, Atalanta missed out on European football for next season, finishing 8th in the table.

9. Marko Arnautovic (14 goals)

Marko Arnautovic had a decent comeback to Serie A. Signing for Bologna at the start of last season, the former Inter Milan man scored 14 goals and 1 assist in 33 matches in the league. Arnautovic came in with loads of experience behind his back, playing in the Premier League and Bundesliga.

His goal contributions saw Bologna finish 13th in the points table with 46 points.

8. Victor Osimhen (14 goals)

Tied with Arnautovic at 14 goals is Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian had the most prolific season of his career so far. The former Wolfsburg man had to miss most of his debut season for Napoli. But he made up for it in the recently concluded season.

Napoli’s highest scorer of the season, his goals saw Napoli finish third in the league table. Only behind the Milan Clubs and ahead of Juventus.

7. Domenico Berardi (15 goals)

Sassuolo’s record goalscorer had another season of high returns. After scoring 17 league goals the previous season, Berardi scored 15 goals in 2021-22. The versatile forward has been a crucial asset for Sassuolo over the years.

6. Gianluca Scamacca (16 goals)

Scamacca is the second player from Sassuolo to feature in the list. With 16 goals scored, this was the young striker’s highest goalscoring season.  He also got his first senior call up for Italy during last season, making his debut against Lithuania.

Sussuolo finished 11th in the league table with the help of their two forwards chipping in with 31 goals.

5. Tammy Abraham (17 goals)

Tammy Abraham had a brilliant first season in the Serie A, scoring 17 goals and providing 4 assists. On top of that, Abraham also managed to win the UEFA Conference league. Roma signed the Chelsea striker ahead of last season. Abraham became the first Englishman to score more than 10 goals in Serie A.

His goals helped Roma finish 6th in the points table, securing a Europa League spot.

4. Giovanni Simeone (17 goals)

The son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, the Argentinean joined Hellas Verona on loan from Cagiliari. It turned out to be a successful loan as the 26-year old contributed with 17 goals and 5 assists, including a brace against Juventus.

His goals meant that Hellas Verona finished 9th in the table, one place higher than the season prior to that.

3. Lautaro Martinez (21 goals)

Another Argentinean on the list, Martinez had a fantastic season in front of goal for Inter Milan. The striker bettered his record of 17 goals in  2020-21 by scoring 21 in the recently concluded season, filling the boots of Romelu Lukaku perfectly.

However despite his goals, Inter missed out on the Serie A trophy by 2 points, finishing second behind rivals AC Milan.

2. Dusan Vlahovic (24 goals)

The only player in the list to play for two different clubs during the season. The Serbian started his season with Fiorentina where he scored 17 goals in 21 appearances. Vlahovic then went on to sign for Juventus in the January transfer window rejecting offers from the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid. The forward then went on to score 7 goals for Juventus in 15 apperances.

1. Ciro Immobile (27 goals)

A very familiar name tops the list. Ciro Immobile is no stranger to the Paulo Rossi award(formerly Capocannoniere) having won it 3 times ahead of last season. This makes it his fourth win. The Italian also holds the record for most goals scored in a single Serie A season.

Having scored 27 goals in 2021-22, His goals saw Lazio finish 5th in the table making it to the Europa League.
