The Director of Sport at the club had some words of recognition and confidence for the Dutchman.
Matthijs De Ligt endured a difficult start to his career in Juventus after a high-profile move from AFC Ajax. His transfer in the summer had caught the attention of almost every major club that was eyeing a move for the Dutch defender. However, amid the jubilation with which he was welcomed by the Old Lady, De Ligt has visibly found it rather a bit difficult to adapt himself to the various demands of Italian football. [KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] However, the turnaround has been visible for him in the past few games and weeks with some commendable performances particularly in the games against Atalanta and Atletico Madrid. Fabio Paratici, Juventus’ Director of Sport, had some kind words to say about De Ligt. “Soon he will be the best defender in the world. You see the improvements and the qualities of a great player; he is a humble boy and will become one of the best.” De Ligt has played 10 Serie A matches so far and represented the club in four games of the UEFA Champions League. He has even scored a goal in the league and is gradually settling in to the various technical requirements that a defender is especially supposed to possess in the league. Juventus’ stalwart, Andrea Barzagli has joined the backroom staff too and their coach Maurizio Sarri believes that he would have a vital role to play in the players’ development, including De Ligt. He remarked, “It was clear that he had immense qualities. Having Barzagli in the staff is a resource, if we talk about the defensive phase he can teach a lot because he was an extraordinary defender from the point of view of individual tactics. Playing every three days there isn't much time to train on the field and even watch 15 minutes a video with Andrea can teach Matthijs a lot.” [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News | Article Continues Below"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS] Juventus are currently at the top of the table in the Serie A as they have notched 11 victories from the 13 matches played so far and hence have secured 35 points. They are yet to lose a game there but being given a close run for their money by Inter Milan who have undergone a resurgence of sorts under the tutelage of Antonio Conte. European success would be at the top of the priority for Juventus in the ongoing season and needless to say, Matthijs De Ligt would play a pivotal role if they are to attain that feat in the coming months.Where passion meets insight — blending breaking news, in-depth strategic analysis, viral moments, and jaw-dropping plays into powerful sports content designed to entertain, inform, and keep you connected to your favorite teams and athletes.
