La Roja will have the chance to break the record in the final.

Spain have advanced to the World Cup final for only the second time in its history. The victory over France equalled Italy’s 37-game unbeaten record – the longest in international football history.

Spain defeated France 2-0 in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semifinals in Dallas on Tuesday, extending its undefeated streak in international football.

With the victory, La Roja extended their international undefeated streak to 37 games, tying Italy for the record.

Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro scored goals to help Spain defeat the 2018 champion. They are securing a summit matchup with either Argentina or England in New Jersey on Sunday.

Spain are the incumbent European Champion and are hoping to win a World Cup to match its accomplishment from the previous decade, when it won both the Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010.

The Spanish have not lost an international match in regulation since March 26, 2024. Back then, they were defeated by Colombia in an international friendly. La Roja’s current success appears to be permanent, with teenager Lamine Yamal acting as a spark.

Spain’s streak includes the Euro 2024 win, which was Lamine Yamal’s first international triumph. La Roja will aim to continue their run. They have been one of the best sides since winning the Euro 2024 and will be determined to clinch their second World Cup trophy on Sunday.
