Sunderland will take on Dinamo Zagreb in a crucial league-phase fixture of the UEFA Europa League 2026-27 at the Stadium of Light on Thursday night. The match will be a good opportunity for the hosts, who will seek to maintain their unbeaten streak in the tournament.
A 1-1 draw away with Lech Poznan ended Sunderland’s perfect record in the Europa League. The Wearside club had earlier beaten AZ Alkmaar 1-0, following this up with a 2-1 win over Torreense.
Regis Le Bris’ side sit in ninth place in the league-phase table with seven points from three games. They have, however, had a horrible Premier League campaign, sitting at the foot of the table with five points from nine matches.
The Black Cats have won just once in nine league matches, and their last outing was a 3-1 defeat to newly promoted Coventry City.
Dinamo Zagreb, on the other hand, suffered a 1-0 defeat to NK Rudes in the Croatian Football League. They currently sit in second place in the league table with 22 points from 11 matches.
The Blues have won just one of their three UEL matches – a 1-0 win over Anderlecht, which was preceded by a goalless draw with Hapoel Beer Sheva. Their last continental outing was a 4-2 loss to NEC Nijmegen.
