La Liga is one of the most exciting football competitions in the world. Over the years, several superstars have played in Spain’s top tier. Many of them broken a plethora of records. But the attacking stats are dominated by Lionel Messi. The Argentine is the highest goal-scorer and has the most assists in the competition’s history.
The Spanish league is home to two of the biggest clubs in world football – Barcelona and Real Madrid. These clubs have attracted some of the biggest stars of the game. They have always been among the best in the sport. Players like Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Raul had mastered the craft of passing. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo had perfected the art of scoring. But these players also managed to set up their team-mates for goals.

10. Jesus Navas – 83
The Spanish full-back is one of the best players in the history of La Liga. Navas has played most of his career with Sevilla. Barring a four-year spell with English giants Manchester City. The Seville-born footballer has been crucial to the Andalusian club’s recent success.
The defender has made 427 appearances in the league. And has provided 83 assists. The Spain international has won the Copa del Rey twice and Europa League triumphs with Sevilla. He was a member of Spain’s 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Championship winning squad.
9. Koke – 83
Barcelona and Real Madrid players dominate the list. The Madrid-born footballer is one of the few to have never played for either. Koke came through Atletico Madrid’s youth system. And has spent his entire career with the Rojiblancos.
The 30-year old captains Atletico Madrid. In 375 league games, he has provided 83 assists. Koke is an important part of the Rojiblancos’ recent rise in world football. He has won the La Liga twice and Europa League two times with his hometown club.
8 Luis Suarez – 84
The Uruguayan striker is next on the list. He is one of the greatest players of his generation. Luis Suarez has played for Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the league. The forward has helped both clubs to multiple trophies.
Luis Suarez played 191 times for Barcelona. He has made 56 appearances for Atletico Madrid. The Uruguayan arrived in La Liga in 2014. The striker has provided 84 assists. The Uruguayan is 15th in the league’s all-time scoring charts.
7 Andres Iniesta – 86
The Spanish midfielder is considered one of the all-time greats. He was integral in Spain and Barcelona’s world dominance. The Spaniard was a part of one of the best midfield partnerships in the game.
He made 442 appearances in the league and provided 86 assists. Andres is one of the most decorated players in football history. Iniesta won multiple domestic and continental titles with Barcelona. Along with two European Championships and a World Cup.
6 Daniel Alves – 86
The Brazilian international redefined the role of a fullback in the modern game. Dani Alves was a capable defender. He excelled in attacking areas as well. Alves was well-equipped in set-pieces and long-range strikes.
Alves played for Sevilla and Barcelona in La Liga. He has made 424 appearances and provided 86 assist for both clubs. His most successful spell with the Catalan giants. Dani Alves won multiple league and Champions League titles with them.
5. Luis Figo – 96
The Portuguese is one of the few players to have played for Barcelona and Real Madrid. Figo switched the Catalan giants for Los Blancos in 2005. This was the most controversial football transfer at that time. He was the Blaugrana’s captain during the move.
In 336 La Liga appearances, Luis Figo provided 96 assists. He won the league titles with both the clubs. But his only Champions League success came with Real Madrid in 2022.
4. Cristiano Ronaldo – 96
The Portuguese is one of the greatest players in Real Madrid’s history. Cristiano Ronaldo is the leading scorer for the Los Blancos. He stayed with them for nine years and won countless major honours.
The 37-year-old made 292 appearances for Real Madrid in the league. He won La Liga twice and four Champions League titles.
3. Karim Benzema – 113
The Frenchman is one of the longest-serving players at Real Madrid. He has over 400 appearances for the club in La Liga. The striker has amassed 113 assists for the Los Blancos, the most in their history.
The forward is Real Madrid’s third-highest goal-scorer of all time. He has won three La Liga and four Champions League titles with the Los Blancos.
2. Xavi Hernandez – 129
The Spanish midfielder led a golden generation of Barcelona and Spain. He was the orchestrator behind two of the most dominant teams in world football. Xavi was famous for his ability to control the game. But he also managed to set his teammates up for goals.
In 505 league appearances, Xavi registered 129 assists. He captained Barcelona to multiple league and Champions League titles. The midfielder also guided Spain to two European Championships and a World Cup. The former player now managed his childhood club Barcelona.
1. Lionel Messi – 216
The Argentine dominates Spanish league's attacking stats. He is the league’s record goal-scorer. The striker also has the most assists in the competition.
Lionel Messi won a record seven Ballon d’Or’s and six Golden Boots during his time at Barcelona. The Argentine won multiple domestic and European triumphs.
