Melbourne City arrive in Kochi ahead of Toyota Yaris La Liga World
The pre-season tournament is set to take place in the city from 24-28-July.
Melbourne City FC on Thursday announced their squad for the upcoming Toyota Yaris LaLiga World official pre-season tournament to be held in Kochi from July 24-29, 2018. The team, managed by Warren Joyce, arrived in the city of Kochi earlier today to kick-off their preparations.
The A-League club regrouped in the first week of July in Melbourne after a break. The team consists of talented Academy stars like Joshua Cavallo, Dylan Pierias, Connor Metcalfe, and Ramy Najjarine. It will also feature the club’s new signings in forward Michael O’Halloran, and midfielders Riley McGree and Lachlan Wales. The three will look to play with their new teammates for the first time here in India.
Melbourne City FC come with a strong midfield consisting of Nathaniel Atkinson, Luke Brattan, Osama Malik, Dario Vidosic, Anthony Caceres, McGree, Iacopo La Rocca, Anthony Lesiotis, Wales, Cavallo and Najjarine. Skipper Scott Jameison will lead the team’s defence alongside Bart Schenkeveld, Harrison Delbridge, Mitchell Graham and Academy boys Metcalfe and Pierias.

The Australian club has four strikers in its touring party including O'Halloran, Uruguayan Bruno Fornaroli, Gianluca Iannuci and 17-year old Moudi Najjar.
Head coach Warren Joyce said his squad was raring to go in what would be the start of a 12-week pre-season schedule for his side. “The squad is very excited to be here in India and test themselves in different conditions. It’s early in our pre-season preparation but they’ve come back fit, sharp and ready to go,” said Joyce after witnessing his team complete their first practice session in Kochi.
He added, “The welcome from the fans here also has been unbelievable and we’re looking forward to playing Kerala Blasters FC and Girona FC in front of them over the next week.” Melbourne City FC will face Kerala Blasters FC in their first fixture on July 24 2018 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
