USA starting lineup vs Bosnia & Herzegovina confirmed for FIFA World Cup 2026 match

The Stars and Stripes are the overwhelming favourites for tonight’s Round of 32 match.

The USA take on Bosnia & Herzegovina in a Round of 32 fixture in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on July 1. The co-hosts have had a solid group-stage campaign, winning Group D, and will be looking to overcome their first knockout hurdle against the Bosnians.

The Stars and Stripes made a stunning start to their World Cup campaign on home soil, beating Paraguay (4-1) and Australia (2-0). Mauricio Pochettino’s men then suffered a shock 3-2 reversal at the hands of Turkiye on the final matchday, but still finished top of the group.

Having made the Round of 16 five times, including in the last edition, the home side will look for another successful campaign against Bosnia & Herzegovina, who only managed to qualify as one of the eight best third-placed teams in the group stage.

Thoughts on the lineup

Pochettino has several injury worries ahead of tonight’s match, with Cristian Roldan, Mark McKenzie, and Auston Trusty all suffering from a variety of knocks.

Matt Freese, however, has been ever-present between the sticks for the USMNT and starts tonight’s match as well. In front of him is the back three of Alex Freeman, Chris Richards, and Tim Ream.

Sergino Dest and Antonee Robinson start in the wing-back positions. Tyler Adams and Malik Tillman form the midfield pivot. In front of them is Weston McKennie, who will play in an advanced role alongside “Captain America” Christian Pulisic.

Folarin Balogun, who scored a brace in the first match against Paraguay, leads the line for his nation tonight.
