Who is Brian Madjo? Teenager who scored four goals for Aston Villa in pre-season

Madjo is one of the highly-talented centre-forwards.
Aston Villa may now register striker Brian Madjo for official tournaments after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) accepted their claim against FIFA’s appeal on the 17-year-old player, who came from Metz.
Madjo was born in England and grew up in Luxembourg. He played for them three times last year before joining England‘s Under-17 team.
Villa signed six-foot-four attacker Madjo in January. However, FIFA’s laws prohibit international transfers of youngsters under 18, citing his Luxembourg nationality.
Villa, the UEFA Europa League champions, appealed FIFA’s judgement to CAS, citing Madjo’s English citizenship and birthplace.
Brian Madjo produced four goals during pre-season, including two in Villa’s first friendly against Walsall.
Who is Brian Madjo?
Brian Madjo, a 17-year-old professional footballer, operates as a centre forward for Premier League team Aston Villa. He is widely considered one of Europe’s most promising young striker prospects. He recently made headlines after winning a successful court appeal to play in England.
Madjo honed his abilities in the youth schools of Marisca Mersch and Racing Union in Luxembourg before joining French club FC Metz. After netting 13 goals in 26 games for Metz’s U19 team at the age of 15, he was quickly promoted to the senior squad. He made his Ligue 1 debut at 16.
Aston Villa signed him in January 2026 for a price of £10 million (€12 million) on a five-and-a-half-year contract. However, FIFA regulations initially prohibited his registration owing to severe laws governing the international movement of children under 18. Because he grew up in Luxembourg and played for the national team, FIFA did not immediately recognise him as a local player.
On 4 August 2026, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld Aston Villa’s appeal, saying that his British birth and UK citizenship rendered him instantly eligible to play competitive matches for the 2026–27 season. He has already pleased boss Unai Emery, netting four goals in the 2026 preseason, especially two goals against Walsall.
