Aston Villa may now register striker Brian Madjo for official tournaments after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) accepted their claim against FIFA’s appeal on the 17-year-old player, who came from Metz.

Villa signed six-foot-four attacker Madjo in January. However, FIFA’s laws prohibit international transfers of youngsters under 18, citing his Luxembourg nationality.
Villa, the UEFA Europa League champions, appealed FIFA’s judgement to CAS, citing Madjo’s English citizenship and birthplace.

On 4 August 2026, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld Aston Villa’s appeal, saying that his British birth and UK citizenship rendered him instantly eligible to play competitive matches for the 2026–27 season. He has already pleased boss Unai Emery, netting four goals in the 2026 preseason, especially two goals against Walsall.
