Lisandro Martinez was born on January 18, 1998, in Gualeguay, Entre Ríos, Argentina. He began his youth career at Club Urquiza’s academy at age 5. He later also played for Club Libertad and Newell’s Old Boys during his youth career.
Martinez also made his professional debut for Newell’s Old Boys during the 2016-17 season. In August 2017, he was loaned to another Argentine Primera División side, Defensa y Justicia. After a decent season in Florencio Varela, he was signed by Defensa y Justicia for a brief period before capturing the attention of European giants Ajax.
For Ajax, Lisandro Martinez made 76 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals and providing five assists. He was named the Player of the Year for the 2021-22 season. Martinez also won the Eredivisie championship twice, the Dutch Cup and the Dutch Super Cup with Ajax.
