Ahead of the Premier League transfer deadline day on September 1, Newcastle United have decided to sign Matias Fernandez-Pardo from the Ligue 1 side Lille OSC.
After a disappointing campaign last season, the Magpies are now signing one of their major attacking targets under their new manager, Matthias Jaissle. The 21-year-old Belgian forward is going to play a crucial role for Newcastle during the current Premier League season and can go on to become a long-term star for the club.

Matias Fernandez-Pardo was born on February 3, 2005, in Brussels, Belgium. During his early footballing days, he developed through the youth systems of Anderlecht, Mechelen and Lille before moving to Gent in 2020. He returned to Lille OSC in 2024 and established himself in the senior team.
Fernandez-Pardo has developed himself into a versatile attacker who can be deployed as a centre-forward or on either wing. He has a strong physical presence with a fast pace and agility, which allows him to operate well in the wide areas on the field. Lille themselves describe him as a dynamic and versatile attacker capable of playing both centrally and on the flanks.
To completely refine his skills, he spent six years at Lille’s academy and then moved to Gent before returning to the Dogues in the 2024-25 season. He then quickly became part of the first-team setup. During the recent 2025-26 campaign, Matias Fernandez-Pardo scored eight goals in 41 appearances for Lille across all competitions.
His performances for the Ligue 1 side also helped him earn a spot in the Belgium national football team. He was also included in the first team for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The 21-year-old now has five senior caps for his nation.
The Premier League side, Newcastle United, are now closing in on signing the versatile Belgian forward. The Magpies are set to pay a reported fee of €60m plus add-ons to Lille. Matias Fernandez-Pardo has already agreed to the deal and will now be seen in the English top division.
