Yasser Ibrahim helped Egypt take an early lead over defending champions Argentina by scoring in the 15th minute via a bullet header, leaving Emiliano Martinez without an answer. The chance was created on a corner by Marwan Attia after Lisandro Martinez conceded possession near his own box.
Thanks to Ibrahim’s goal, Argentina trailed by a goal for the first time in the ongoing World Cup. Additionally, the 33-year-old has scored the first-ever goal for the Pharaohs in the round of 16.

Yasser Ibrahim was born on February 10, 1993, in Mansoura, Egypt. He started playing football at Mansoura’s youth academy. He eventually made his professional debut for El Mansoura SC in 2011 and continued to play for his boyhood side until 2013.
In 2013, he earned a move to Zamalek SC but made only 10 appearances for the side in his first season. However, he also helped the side win the Egypt Cup in the 2013-14 season. Yasser Ibrahim was loaned to Smouha from Zamalek during the 2014-15 season, in which he played 18 games.

After a fairly successful loan season at the Alexandria-based outfit, he was signed by Smouha SC on a permanent deal. He eventually played 128 games for Smouha SC in almost four years.
However, he later decided to join Al Ahly SC in January 2019. In almost six seasons at the Egyptian Premier League side, Yasser Ibrahim has made 236 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists.
Thanks to his reliable performances in club competition, Ibrahim was called up to the Egypt squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. And currently, he’s playing for the Egyptian national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 33-year-old has earned 23 caps for the Pharaohs since making his first-team debut in March 2022, scoring two goals.
