The Three Lions secured a win after extra time!

The England national football team went head-to-head against the Norway national football for their quarter-final contest at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

It was an entertaining encounter to watch. Both nations battled till the death and only one of them was successful in securing a spot in the World Cup semifinals.

The Thomas Tuchel-led side controlled the ball very well from the start. This time around, their performance in the final third did not look quite up to the mark. They came up with fewer attempts than usual. Noni Madueke started and Bukayo Saka was on the bench. Madueke surely was able to find some space in the attacking front with his pace, but his touches were not up to the mark. Saka came on the field in the second half and it slightly made things better for England.

Jude Bellingham came up with an equaliser at the end of the first half. Many believe that the goal should’ve been disallowed due to the ball coming into contact with the camera cable, but FIFA came up with an explanation of their own. Bellingham, in extra time, completed his brace and led his nation to a 2-1 victory against Erling Haaland’s Norway.

Who will England face in World Cup semi-finals?

As things stand, the England national football team will face the winner of Argentina vs Switzerland in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semifinals.

The Three Lions are one of the favourites to win the World Cup crown this year. With their star-studded lineup, they surely have a big chance in front of them. Thomas Tuchel’s men must avoid making mistakes, which they do while defending or in the buildup. Their midfield remains their strength.
