Morocco sealed a 3-0 win over Canada in their Round of 16 clash in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, on July 4. The 2022 semi-finalists took one step closer to matching their best-ever result in the quadrennial tournament after booking their place in the quarter-final.
The co-hosts began the match well and dominated most of the first half. However, the Canucks conceded early after the restart, with Azzedine Ounahi converting a free-kick from Achraf Hakimi. Ounahi added a second in the 82nd minute, finding the top corner after a cutback from Brahim Diaz.
Soufiane Rahimi, who replaced the injured Ismael Saibari, added a third goal in the final minute of stoppage time, finding the back of the net after another good pass from Diaz. The result sealed the North African side’s place in the last eight.

Who will Morocco play next?

Having booked a place in the quarter-finals, the Atlas Lions will play either Paraguay or France on July 9. The game will be played at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
Paraguay and France will face each other in a feisty Round of 16 clash at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on July 4. Les Bleus are the overwhelming favourites for this match, but La Albirroja will look to provide a stern test for the European giants and book their place in the quarter-final.
