La Roja cruised past their opponents in tonight’s Round of 32 fixture.
Spain sealed their place in the Round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 with a dominant 3-0 win over Austria in their Round of 32 clash at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on July 2.
The European champions dominated the match from the start, but found it hard to break the Austrian defence. Marc Cucurella saw an early goal ruled out by the referee due to a foul on goalkeeper Alexander Schlager in the build-up.
La Roja finally took the lead in the 36th minute, with Mikel Oyarzabal deftly converting a cross from Cucurella. Pedro Porro doubled the Spanish advantage in the 66th minute, heading in from close range after a cross by Alex Baena.
Cucurella then set up another goal for Oyarzabal in the 89th minute. This sealed the victory for the two-time world champions, who booked their place in the last 16 at the expense of Ralf Rangnick’s side.
