Murat Yakin’s Swiss team executed a tactical masterpiece, altering formations and creating traps for Algeria before scoring two sucker-punch goals. They won the game with little enthusiasm but plenty of intricacy.
The Swiss finished first in Group B, defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina and co-host Canada following a surprise 1-1 tie with Qatar in their first match.

Following their 2-0 victory over Algeria in the round of 32, Switzerland will face the winner of Colombia vs. Ghana on Friday at Kansas City Stadium.
Switzerland’s round of 16 match will be held at Vancouver Stadium on Tuesday, July 7.
Switzerland have had a stress-free World Cup so far. They topped their group and also saw off Algeria in the round of 32 without any difficulty. It was their first knockout win in 88 years; hence, it was a historic victory for the A-Team.
Their next challenge will be either Ghana or Colombia. On paper, Colombia appear to be the favourite to win the game, but it will be a tricky test for them.
Meanwhile, the Swiss will be ready for either side. They hope to go further in the tournament and create more history.
