Why did Cole Palmer & Levi Colwill miss Chelsea vs Juventus pre-season friendly?

Led by Xabi Alonso, Cole Palmer’s Chelsea FC locked horns with the Italian giants Juventus FC for their third club friendly contest ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. This will be an interesting contest taking place at Kai Tak Sports Park.
The Blues initiated their pre-season run with a 6-4 win against Western Sydney Wanderers. They were then outplayed by Tottenham Hotspur in their second friendly contest. Chelsea FC faced a 1-2 loss after conceding a goal in the final moments of the clash.
It was not their best performance. They will be looking to secure a win in their upcoming fixture. Xabi Alonso as a Chelsea manager has only delivered average performances in the first two matches.
The Blues are not going to compete in any European competition during the 2026-27 season. They finished 10th in the English top division last season. They will be looking to come up with better efforts this time around.

Why did Cole Palmer & Levi Colwill miss out?

Both Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill were not included in the squad for Chelsea vs Juventus pre-season friendly. These stars are reportedly facing some minor fitness issues and were left out as a precaution.
Palmer trained individually and not with the first team. Colwill did not train.
Xabi Alonso still has time to decide what tactics he will be looking to come up with once the Premier League is underway. Youngsters are going to be the ones who will benefit the most. They will get some valuable time on the field ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Mykhailo Mudryk has joined the Chelsea squad after his four-year suspension was rescinded. He has been out of action for around 20 months.
With Mudryk back in the squad, the Blues are now going to have an extra forward to play with. It will be interesting to see how things are going to unfold for him during the upcoming season.
