Why was Mostafa Ziko’s goal disallowed in Argentina vs Egypt?

The Egypt national football team were looking to double the lead in the second half. In a great build-up, Mohamed Salah came up with a sensational through ball and Mostafa Ziko blasted the ball at the back of the net in the 59th minute. After the VAR check, the goal did not stand as Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez was fouled in the process.

Just eight minutes later, Mostafa Ziko came up with a goal and this time it stood, taking Egypt 2-0 up against Argentina. The Pharaohs were not quite able to celebrate for long as Cristian Romero scored a goal for the defending champions. Lionel Messi then came up with an important equaliser. It was Enzo Fernandez who scored the match-winning goal for La Albiceleste and helped them seal a spot in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals.
