The Premier League side Chelsea is back in action after a long time. They were last on the field for their EPL match against Sunderland, in which they faced a loss. The Blues finished 10th in the English top division and failed to secure a spot for any European competition for the next season.

With a managerial change, they will be eager to secure a UEFA Champions League spot during the next season. Xabi Alonso have now made his unofficial debut with the club and surely ended on a positive note for him. Chelsea are coming in after securing a 6-4 win against the A-League Men club.

It was not the best performance, but they still managed to secure the win in the final moments. Joao Pedro was the standout performer. He came in from the bench to score a hat-trick and also secured an assist. This kicks off Xabi Alonso’s era with Chelsea in style.

Why did Pedro Neto and Malo Gusto miss out?

Due to their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign, both Pedro Neto and Malo Gusto are on a break at the moment. Neto was part of Portugal and Gusto competed for France, which finished fourth in the mega competition.

Both of these stars are going to play an important role under Xabi Alonso once they are back in action. Argentina’s Enzo Fernandez and Reece James of England have also not travelled with the squad due to their participation in the World Cup.

Chelsea scored six goals, but conceded four in return. This shows that they still need to improve quite a lot when it comes to defence. Youngsters enjoyed valuable minutes on the field for Chelsea. Western Sydney Wanderers pushed the English Premier League club to the limits and showed that the A-League also have quality.
