Why Real Madrid are paying €120m to sign Yan Diomande?

The 19-year-old can become a record transfer for Los Blancos!

The LaLiga and European giants, Real Madrid, are reportedly in the race to sign RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande. The Spanish club have likely agreed personal terms with the 19-year-old and might unveil the signing soon.

Some of the greatest players in the history of football have played for Real Madrid. Stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul Gonzalez, Sergio Ramos and others have etched their names in the club’s history by winning multiple trophies and putting up some unforgettable performances.

Real Madrid are a name that grabs a lot of attention during the summer transfers. Recently, they have sealed the deals for Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konaté and Bernardo Silva to play under their new manager, Jose Mourinho. They are now looking to secure a blockbuster deal which might even exceed that of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund (€103m) and Eden Hazard (€100m) from Chelsea.

Why are Real Madrid ready to pay €120m for a 19-year-old?

Los Blancos struggled in all departments on the field last season. It was a disastrous, trophyless campaign. They have now signed important stars for defence and the midfield. The remaining area to strengthen is the attacking front.

Real Madrid are reportedly very close to signing Yan Diomande from the Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. He has played in LaLiga before.

Diomande became a part of CD Leganes in January 2025. But his performances caught the eye of RB Leipzig. Just six months later, he was playing in the German top division.

With RB Leipzig finishing third, Diomande was one of the Bundesliga’s outstanding players last season. All with his exceptional performances on the field. At the FIFA World Cup 2026, he came up with 11 chances in just four appearances for Ivory Coast.

The UCL winners, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), were also in the race to sign the amazing talent. But they have reportedly backed down after the involvement of Real Madrid.

Yan Diomande is likely to start on the right flank for Los Blancos if Vini Jr. stays at the club. He will be joined by Kylian Mbappe up ahead. This attacking trio is exactly what Real Madrid need right now.
