“Consistent with that agreement, Rodrigo De Paul and Lionel Messi will be excused from participating in the 2026 MLS All-Star Game.”
While Lionel Messi evaded a formal league punishment, Inter Miami supporters will have to wait many weeks to see their captain return in a pink shirt.
The 21-day recuperation period indicates that the Argentine is presently recovering physically and mentally from the sorrow of losing the World Cup final.
According to current forecasts, Lionel Messi and De Paul will not be available for selection for Inter Miami until early August. During their vacation, they will miss numerous critical MLS games as they “regroup” from their international exploits.
