Lisandro Martinez has two goal contributions in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
Lisandro Martinez has been one of the most crucial players for Lionel Scaloniâs Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Manchester United defender has been part of the starting XI since the start, except for the sideâs final group-stage clash against Jordan, where they won 3-1.
Until the semi-final against England, Martinez played a total of 510 minutes for La Albiceleste across games, out of which two went into extra-time. He has been one of the sideâs top performers, and against Cape Verde, he also scored one goal and provided one assist.
Teaming with Cristian Romero, the 28-year-old has formed a formidable centre-back duo, which has helped the side contain strong attacking line-ups. However, one issue has been on their side: they have not kept a clean sheet in the last four games.
Nevertheless, while facing England in the semifinal, the Argentine defender was shown a yellow card. And that has left fans wondering if the 28-year-old will miss the sideâs upcoming clash due to the yellow card.

Will Lisandro Martinez miss Argentinaâs next game due to this yellow card?
No, Lisandro Martinez will not miss the final or the third-place match after receiving a yellow card in the semifinal clash against England. He received the yellow card for pulling Morgan Rogersâ shirt, who has started ahead of Noni Madueke and Bukayo Saka on the right wing for the Three Lions in the last four clashes.
According to the tournamentâs disciplinary rules, all individual yellow cards are wiped clean after the quarter-finals. Thus, the Manchester United defender would not be suspended for the final due to yellow-card accumulation from earlier matches.
However, he can miss the next game in case he receives another yellow card or a straight red card in the remainder of the game.
The winner of the action-packed game will face European champions Spain in the final on Sunday, July 19, at the New York Jersey Stadium. La Roja defeated Didier Deschampsâ France 2-0 in the first semifinal. Meanwhile, the losing side will lock horns against Les Bleus.
