Frank Lampard emerges as shock candidate to take over at AS Roma: Reports

Ivan Juric is currently under immense pressure
AS Roma’s struggles have continued despite appointing new head coach Ivan Juric in September as they have won only four matches in their last ten games after making the Croatian their new manager.
According to rumours, AS Roma are now searching for a new head coach, thus the Italian team’s subpar performance has now cast doubt on Juric’s future there. Their recent 3-2 loss to Verona has made matters worse.
Now Roma ownership is already looking for a replacement for Juric as Friedkins holding talks with potential candidates after their visit to London and Paris.
It is understood that former Fiorentina manager Paulo Sousa is the favourite to take charge of the club after he returned to Italy following his stint at Dubai-based Shabab Al Ahli.
Roberto Mancini is also in the frame and another Italian coach Claudio Ranieri is also being considered. One of the surprising names has been Frank Lampard, who is currently unemployed.
Following his mixed stints at Chelsea and Everton the former midfielder is been identified as one of the options to take over Roma if they decide to sack Juric.
The Friedkins who are currently in the process of completing a takeover at Everton ownership have been told that Lampard could prove to be a decent option for Roma, although no final decision has been made on Juric sacking and the appointment of the next manager.
Frank Lampard’s last managerial stint
Lampard has not managed a club since his interim charge at Chelsea, where they laboured to eke out results under him and finished the season 12th.
Meanwhile, his stints at Everton have also not been convincing as the former Blues star has failed to demonstrate his managerial astuteness when given the chance.
It will be interesting to see what Roma will decide if they continue to fare poorly under the current head coach, and if they go with Lampard then the England international will have a challenging task ahead of him to turn the fortunes of the club.
