The Swedish striker is pursued by many top European clubs.
The Oracle Most Powerful Goal award for the Premier League 2024-25 season went to Alexander Isak’s spectacular goal for Newcastle United versus Liverpool.
After sprinting off Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk and creating a yard of space to shoot past goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, Alexander Isak scored the first goal in a thrilling 3-3 match in December, smashing the ball into the top-right corner from the edge of the 18-yard box.
The mean speed between the ball departing the striker’s boot and reaching the goalline was tracked by Oracle, the Premier League‘s official cloud supplier, and it was 108.94 km/h. In 2024–2025, it was the quickest average velocity of all goals scored from outside the 18-yard box that did not deflect.
Antoine Semenyo’s goal for AFC Bournemouth against Leicester City on the last day of the Premier League season was the second most powerful goal, but Alexander Isak’s goal, which was also chosen as the December Guinness Goal of the Month, was just over a kilometre per hour faster.
Alexander Isak is linked with an exit from Newcastle United.
The ‘dream target’ for practically every elite team looking to add a striker this summer seems to be Isak. Securing Champions League football could be sufficient to keep the Swede at St James’ Park for the upcoming season, though, as Newcastle would be reluctant to let him go for anything less than an outrageous price.
Many clubs in Europe have shown interest in signing the striker, but the Magpies’ Champions League football next season could see the striker continue at the Tyneside for the upcoming season.
Alexander Isak is currently the third-most valuable striker in the world, behind Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid (€170m) and Haaland (€180m). Over the season, Isak’s price tag has soared from €75 million to €120 million. He is currently the fourth most valued star in the Premier League and the most valuable player in Sweden’s history as well as Newcastle’s.
