Barcelona have 16 players at the World Cup!

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is in its final countdown, with the competition set to kick off in less than two weeks. Co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada, football’s grandest showdown returns to North America after 22 years.

With every participating nation, from former winners to first-time debutants, have finalized their final squads for the tournament and is underway with their preparations. While considered insignificant, football clubs are one of the biggest beneficiaries of the World Cup. Each club will recieve $11,000 for each of their players competing in the tournament.

With this payment structure, a team will receive a minimum of $150,000 for each player, even if their side gets eliminated in the group stages.

FC Barcelona will be one of the clubs to benefit from the FIFA payment structure. The Spanish side has had an exceptional season, winning the LaLiga title for the second consecutive season. Under Hansi Flick, the team also managed to win the Supercopa de España, establishing themselves as one of the most formidable sides in European football.

The team’s strong finish propelled some of the biggest performers to be considered for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Star players like Lamine Yamal and Raphinha were handed the deserved spots in the World Cup. On the other hand, game-changers like Alejandro Balde and Roony Bardghji were snubbed for the tournament.
