The English top flight has already witnessed the sacking of many top managers this season.

Julen Lopetegui was one of the recent Premier League managers to lose his position in January. His tenure at West Ham United ended abruptly due to the team’s dismal league performance, which left them in the bottom half of the standings.

There is a long list of head coaches who have been shown the exit gate, so he is not the only Premier League coach to have been let go since the start of the new campaign.

In this piece, we will examine each manager who has been let go since the season began.

Leicester City: Steve Cooper

After only five months in command, Leicester City fired Steve Cooper. The Foxes had only won two of their twelve Premier League games. The Welshman had led Nottingham Forest back to the top level in 2022 for the very first time in 23 years before retaining them in the division the following year.

Wolves: Gary O’Neil

Although Gary O’Neil’s first season as Wolverhampton Wanderers’ manager was unquestionably successful, his second season had gone horribly wrong.

Since the team is one of the Premier League’s biggest underdogs, his final games were tainted by players losing their composure. As a result, he was forced to remove Mario Lemina from his position as Wolves captain.

The final straw that ended his time which lasted just under 500 days was a loss to relegation rivals Ipswich. After arriving from Saudi Arabia, Vitor Pereira has recently managed a respectable run of results, although the Old Gold still appears destined for relegation.

Southampton: Russel Martin

After Southampton’s management grew impatient with their embarrassing results they decided to make an important decision and fired Russell Martin.

Tottenham Hotspur brutally thrashed his side 5-0 in his farewell game, and the scars from their earlier 9-0 loss unavoidably returned.

After the Saints’ play-off victory in May, Martin had remained loyal to his ideology. However, his inability to accumulate points at the highest level ultimately pushed the board to relieve him from his duties as they are currently 20th in the table with just six points.

Everton: Sean Dyche

Everton announced on Thursday that Sean Dyche had been fired as manager. Although he led Everton out of relegation in consecutive seasons with financial difficulties, Dyche, who succeeded Frank Lampard in 2023, has seen the Merseyside team struggle due to a mix of bad play and an uninspired style of game.

With only 15 goals in 19 games, Everton are currently ranked 16th in the Premier League. Southampton, who are in last place, have managed fewer.

West Ham United: Julen Lopetegui

Lopetegui, a Spaniard, was fired on Wednesday after only six months as manager.

The 58-year-old former Wolves manager was hired in May after David Moyes left, although he didn’t take over as manager until July 1. The Hammers only managed six Premier League victories under Lopetegui.

The team lost 4-1 at Manchester City on Saturday, their ninth league loss in 20 games this season, dropping them to 14th place, seven points above the relegation zone.

Manchester Untied: Erik ten Hag

After a terrible start to the season, Erik ten Hag was fired by Manchester United in what was by far the most well-publicized dismissal. With just three victories from their first nine games, the Red Devils dropped to 14th place in the Premier League after the Dutchman’s final game, a 2-1 loss to West Ham United.

Ten Hag has been called the worst manager in United’s history, despite leading the team to two trophies during his two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford. Since then, Ruben Amorim has taken his place.
