The Magpies have only signed two players this summer.
As of right now, Newcastle United have lost out on eight of the top targets in the summer transfer window to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
Newcastle United’s summer, which should have been filled with hope as they prepare to return to the UEFA Champions League, has turned out to be a catastrophe. The club have only managed to sign two players so far.

Only Anthony Elanga and Aaron Ramsdale have been added to Eddie Howe’s squad thus far, with the Premier League season approaching and deadline day just over a month away.
Alexander Isak’s wish to depart and Liverpool’s massive attempt to sign him have been yet another setback after weeks and weeks of top targets turning down the chance to play for Newcastle.
The Magpies fans are now dreading the Champions League rather than looking forward to it. To have a squad built to take on the action of next season, a miracle will need to happen in the last few weeks of the transfer window.
The Magpies did have plenty of targets in the summer window, but have failed to bring any of them in.
Which players have rejected a move to Newcastle United this summer?
The first player to reject Newcastle United was Dean Huijsen, as the centre-back preferred a move to Real Madrid. It meant the Premier League club missed out on a chance to bolster their defence.
Howe’s side have been looking to reinforce their attack. They made a bid for Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, but both of them instead chose to join Manchester United.
Mbeumo and Cunha weren’t the only attacking players who said ‘NO’ to Newcastle’s advances. The club had also identified Joao Pedro and Liam Delap for their No. 9 position, but they couldn’t convince both strikers to sign for the team.

Moreover, the club was handed a major blow when Alexander Isak told them that he wanted to leave the team. Liverpool submitted an initial bid for Isak, which saw Newcastle turn it down.
In fear of losing Isak, Newcastle United started looking for his backup and located Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko as his potential replacements. However, Ekitike instead joined Liverpool, while Sesko has personally agreed to join United.
Newcastle also had a goalkeeper in mind and expressed interest in James Trafford. He too decided to join another team, Manchester City. However, the Magpies did manage to find an alternative as they signed Ramsdale.
