Ange Postecoglou doesn’t really do tactical work in training reveals Eric Dier
The Englishman has joined Bayern on loan
Opening up about his last training sessions under Ange Postecoglou, Eric Dier says his former Tottenham manager did not undertake any tactical work. Dier, 30, had been a first-term fixture for the nine years prior to that and was the major casualty of Postecoglou’s arrival in North London last summer.
Under the new Australian coach at Tottenham, he played just four games before landing a surprise loan transfer to Bayern Munich in January. Since then, Dier has made 11 appearances for former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. Last month, his contract was extended.
Additionally, it appears like the 49-year-old England international will start tonight’s Champions League quarterfinal matchup against Arsenal, Spurs’ opponents.
Throughout his career, Dier has worked with some of the biggest names in football, such as Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, and Antonio Conte.
However, he concedes that Postecoglou is the least tactically aware manager he has ever worked for and that he enjoyed Conte’s sessions more.During the Overlap, Dier said to Gary Neville:

“No, interestingly he doesn’t really do any tactical work. What he does is, every single training drill from Monday to Friday is drawn up to represent the way he wants to play.
“Conte, I could do it blind, but that was a lot of tactical work, ten versus zero, walkthroughs. “You were so well drilled, it would be engrained in you.”
Thinking back on his tenure under Conte, Dier said
“Antonio was probably the manager I played my best football under and aside from a manager, I really liked him as a man, he was a very honest and kind man.
“I remember his meetings were just incredible, the intensity he would bring to his meetings and the intensity he would bring to training every day, himself, I thought was just incredible.
“Ange, I really enjoyed those six months, apart from not playing at all. I really enjoyed the style of play, the style of training, I think he has fantastic coaches, and his team talks were great.”
