La Albiceleste are just a win away from defending their crown.
Argentina will face Colombia in the final of Copa America 2024. Both teams are in fine form and have made their way to the finals. Argentina topped their group and defeated Ecuador in the quarter-final and Canada in the semi-final to reach the showpiece. On the other hand, Colombia are playing some quality football, as they made their way into the finals by defeating Panama and Uruguay in the knockout rounds.
Both teams will look to give each other a tough challenge. The defending champions will look to win their 16th Copa America title, on the other hand, Colombia have defeated teams like Brazil and Uruguay. The world champions, in their previous fixtures, looked a bit sloppy but still are good enough to give their opponents a tough time on the pitch. This will be a mouthwatering clash for sure.
Here is how the defending champions could lineup for the final match:
Argentina’s predicted lineup against Colombia (Formation: 4-3-3):
Goalkeeper: Emiliano Martinez
Emiliano Martinez has probably been the best performer for Argentina at this tournament, as he has made some crucial saves in almost every match. He was the hero in the penalty shootout against Ecuador in the quarter-final as well.
His presence at the back gives a lot of confidence to the defenders. Martinez’s shot-stopping ability and courage make him special.
Right-Back: Nahuel Molina
Nahuel Molina is a player who likes to go up and down the field and cover a lot of ground. With his consistent performances, he has impressed everyone. He is good offensively as well as defensively and is also strong in winning duels.
Molina has the pace and physical strength to stop opponents from getting past him. He will be important for La Albiceleste in the final match.
Centre-Back: Cristian Romero
Cristian Romero is a proactive defender and is physically strong. He is always involved in duels and sometimes also makes some aggressive tackles, which get him booked, but overall he’s a fine player.
With his leadership at the back, Argentina have been really good defensively. Romero is a brave defender who has a lot of courage and confidence.
Centre-Back: Lisandro Martinez
Lisandro Martinez is good with his feet. His aggression and ball-playing ability allow him to step up and defend high up the pitch.
Even though he is short in stature, Martinez is physically strong and does not shy away from putting his body on the line. His ability to play through the lines makes him a desirable option in the build-up from the back.
