Arsenal handed Martin Odegaard injury setback after Nottingham Forest game in Premier League

The midfielder suffered a serious injury in the Nottingham game.
In the 18th minute of Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Martin Ødegaard was substituted out, adding to his early-season injury problems.
The fact that Ødegaard’s injury resulted from a collision with his own teammate at the Emirates will only make him more frustrated.
When trying to win the ball from Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White on the outer edge of the penalty box, Jurriën Timber accidentally pushed Ødegaard, causing the Arsenal captain to fall awkwardly.
Ødegaard earlier sustained an injury during Arsenal’s victory over Leeds United on August 23. He left the field holding his shoulder. He was also left out of the starting lineup for the 1-0 loss at Anfield before the international break because of a shoulder problem.
Mikel Arteta provides update on the midfielder’s injury and possible surgery
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stated after the game that the injury was “very similar” to the shoulder problems that have been affecting Ødegaard recently. But he sounded hopeful that the player could be able to participate in the team’s UEFA Champions League opener against Athletic Club in Bilbao next week.
“Yes,Very similar. I don’t know if it is exactly the same place but it is a very similar injury. He wasn’t comfortable to continue,” Arteta told a news conference.
“He has played two games with Norway and unfortunately he cannot carry on today so we have to assess him with the doctors and see. But I’m sure he will try his best to be fit for Tuesday.”
When asked if Ødegaard could need surgery, Arteta responded as follows:
“I’m not the expert but they weren’t concerned at that level at all. The last time in a few days he was able to manage the pain, especially as the injury wasn’t that bad. I don’t know the extent of today’s but hopefully not.”
Recurrent injuries to some of his key players throughout the previous season and the early going of this one have irritated Mikel Arteta.

He has picked up a shoulder injury.
