Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are just two wins away from winning their first league title in over two decades.

For one last time this season, the Emirates Stadium in the red side of North London gears up to host the penultimate matchweek fixture of the English Premier League, where table toppers and favourites Arsenal lock horns with officially relegated Burnley.

After coming so close to winning a silverware in the last few seasons, it seems like Arsenal are finally bringing home a silverware to North London. They have made it to the UEFA Champions League finals after beating Atletico Madrid. They also have the Premier League fate in their own hands and are just two wins away from becoming winners.

After that 2-1 defeat to Manchester City, it seemed like Arsenal’s title hopes had slipped away. But three consecutive wins over Newcastle United, West Ham and Fulham, while Man City drop points, Arteta’s side are in pole position to win top English honours after over two decades.

Talking about Burnley. The Clarets have been relegated, but they can literally play a massive role in determining the next title winners. After Scott Parker’s departure, Mike Jackson was appointed as the interim head coach of Burnley, but things haven’t changed much for the Clarets.

They are winless in their last 11 games and are coming after a draw against Aston Villa. Manchester City will be closely keeping an eye on this fixture. If Burnley can manage to even hold the Gunners to a draw, we will have an absolutely dramatic final matchweek to find out the new champions of England.

Kick-off:

  • Location: North London, England
  • Stadium: Emirates Stadium
  • Date: Tuesday, 19 May
  • Kick-off Time: 12:30 a.m. IST
  • Referee: Paul Tierney
  • VAR: In use

Players to Watch

Eberechi Eze (Arsenal)

As easy as this fixture may look, Arsenal must still find ways to unlock Burnley’s defence to score a goal as early as possible. Eberechi Eze will be tasked with creating opportunities for Gyokeres up front and initiating counterattacks.

Eze has previously plied his trade with Crystal Palace and brought the FA Cup and FA Community Shield to Selhurst Park before moving upwards to North London. He switched his allegiance to London neighbours Arsenal before the start of this season.

Eze has started 21 games for Arsenal, scoring seven goals and providing two assists. His most recent goal came against Newcastle United in a 1-0 win. His solitary goal was the difference at the Emirates.

Lucas Pires (Burnley)

The Brazilian left-back could be Burnley’s most impactful player in the upcoming game. He will be exposed to accelerated runs in the left flank from speedsters like Bukayo Saka. If the 25-year-old Brazilian left back can keep Saka quiet from the flanks, Burnley can have a real chance of stealing a point.

Before making a move to Burnley, he previously played for Santos FC and Cadiz as a loanee. He has so far played 18 matches for the Clarets, where he started in 13 games.

It will be an interesting battle between Saka and Pires on the left flank. He has also created a lot of chances upfront. Even Ugochukwu will be relying a lot on Pires’ runs during transition plays and counterattacks.

Match Facts

  • Arsenal scored 10 goals and conceded just one across their last three meetings with Burnley.
  • The last time Burnley defeated Arsenal was back in 2020.
