Aston Villa in advance talks to sign PSG midfielder Carlos Soler

Aston Villa have qualified for Champions League next season
The taunts and jeers directed at him by his own supporters on Sunday at the Parc des Princes validated what Carlos Soler has long since realised: PSG are not where his future lies.
For the second year in a row, the Spaniard won the Ligue 1 winners’ medal. Despite this, he has contributed little to Les Parisiens’ success this season, logging just 993 minutes of action in the top flight during the team’s championship-winning campaign.
As per an article from L’Équipe, Aston Villa are making headway in negotiations to sign 27-year-old Carlos Soler, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain who is out of favour.
For several months, there have been rumours of a transfer to Aston Villa, who on Tuesday night guaranteed a spot in the UEFA Champions League for the upcoming year.
According to L’Équipe, the negotiations are progressing; the matter at hand concerns PSG’s assessment of the player, who signed a contract with the club that expires in 2027 and cost €18 million when he joined.

But there’s still a really important question: how much can Paris get for a 27-year-old player who was bought for almost €18 million in 2022 but hasn’t played much lately?
Soler has made 26 appearances for the Spanish team this season in all competitions, contributing four assists and one goal to the Parisians’ total. It is possible that the 27-year-old would benefit from a change of scenery and that he would get along well with Emery, who was his coach in La Liga.
If a transfer occurs in January, Aston Villa and Brighton will be ready to cover Soler’s entire wage. The PSG midfielder, who may be trying to leave the team, has caught the attention of the Premier League team.
