Aston Villa predicted lineup for Premier League 2024-25 season
Unai Emery has assembled a frightening eleven for the new season.
Aston Villa have emerged as one of the best teams in the division thanks to excellent work from Unai Emery. Emery has made them a tough team to beat. Villa Park has become a fortress under his leadership with the team posing one of the best home records in the Premier League last season.
It was a successful campaign for the team as they finished in the fourth position, automatically sealing their place in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history. The Villains have made some fantastic signing which further improves their squad strength for the upcoming season with a whole lot to play for.
Aston Villa predicted lineup (Formation: 4-3-3)
Goalkeeper: Emiliano Martinez
Martinez has emerged as one of the best goalkeepers in the world in a short time after his heroics with the Argentina national team and Aston Villa. The Argentine is adept at playing with the ball at his feet. He also brings a commanding presence to the side which makes him the favourite to occupy the position for the new season.
Right-Back: Matty Cash
Matty Cash is one of the trustworthy players for Unai Emery. Emery has shown tremendous faith in his qualities in both halves. Cash is set to retain his place for the new season as right back after appearing 46 times during a successful campaign where they finished in fourth place.
Centre-Back: Ezri Konsa
Enzi Konsa is probably one of the best defenders in the squad who has performed consistently for the club throughout the last season. He is a calm and composed defender who doesn’t panic in pressure situations. Last season, he developed an excellent partnership at the back with Pau Torres, with the duo guiding the team to a top-four finish.
Centre-Back: Pau Torres
Unlike Konsa, Pau Torres is a technically gifted defender who has incredible passing range and can easily clear the lines with his defence-splitting passes. Also, Torres is a threat from set-pieces for opposition defences as he can contribute to the team in these situations. He along with Konsa are likely to start at the heart of defence for the team.
Left-Back: Ian Maatsen
The new signing from Chelsea has already caught the eye of his new employers. Last season he guided Borussia Dortmund to a Champions League final. Despite his low frame, Maatsen is an excellent defender who contributes to the team in both halves. He is tailor-made for the system Emery is trying to build at Villa Park this season.
Central Midfielder: John McGinn
John McGinn has turned out to be an untouchable player for Emery, who has managed to bring out the best of him during the 2023-24 season. He was a beast last season who looked at another level after finishing the season with nine goals and seven assists. McGinn brings experience and hunger to the side to fight for every ball throughout the match, making him untouchable in the team.
Central Defensive Midfielder: Amadou Onana
The new destroyer for Emery’s side. Amadou Onana has been brought for a record fee from Everton with the Aston Villa manager playing a crucial factor in this deal. He wanted Onana at every cost to become the reliable player in the middle of the park who could help the team defensively while also bringing a threat from set-pieces.
Central Midfielder: Youri Tielemans
Youri Tielemans is the architect of this team. He controls the tempo of the game while also helping the team to build attacks from the back. Tielemans remains the favourite to start alongside Onana and McGinn in the new-look midfield for the upcoming season. Last season, he netted three goals and also provided seven assists.
Right-Wing: Leon Bailey
Leon Bailey has flourished under the management of Unai Emery who has managed to unlock his potential to the fullest. Last season was a breakthrough year for him after achieving his career-best numbers. He registered 14 goals for the team while also laying on 13 assists at the same time. His spot is fixed in the side after these performances.
Striker: Ollie Watkins
The England international has built a reputation of himself as one of the best forwards in the division after another successful year on a personal level. Watkins finished the season as the top scorer for his club after netting 27 goals in all competitions while also providing another 13 assists. Watkins has blossomed into a world-class forward who is known for his marauding runs and burst of pace.
Left-Wing: Morgan Rogers
Morgan Rogers finished the 2023-24 season on a high note after establishing himself in the starting eleven following a series of impressive cameos. Rogers appeared 16 times for the team last season where he showed flashes of his potential as the season wore on. He netted three goals for the team and also caught the eye of Emery who has been impressed by his development throughout the season.
