Preview: Aston Villa vs Tottenham Prediction, lineups, betting tips & odds | Premier League 2025-26

Both sides last drew a game back in 2012!

The Villa Park in the Heart of the West Midlands in Birmingham is all set to host the Matchweek 35 fixtures of the English Premier League, where the home team Aston Villa gear up to lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Birmingham outfit are competing strongly for a continental spot as they are placed fifth in the Premier League points table, and a win can almost guarantee their spot in the UEFA Champions League. They have won two of their last five games and are coming after a defeat to Fulham recently.

From battling relegation to playing in Europe regularly, Unai Emery has done an exceptional job with Villa. The former PSG and Arsenal gaffer will be keen to clinch all three points at home against Spurs. For Villa, Boubacar Kamara and Youri Tielemans have been the best players so far.

Nobody in North London would have imagined in their wildest dreams that a summer after winning the UEFA Europa League, Spurs would be battling relegation in the English top flight. De Zerbi has taken over the reins after Spurs saw a series of managerial changes after Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor were sacked.

The Lilywhites are coming after defeats to Sunderland and Nottingham before getting their first win of the calendar year against relegation-bound Wolverhampton. Injuries have massively affected team selection and some of their main players, including Vicario, Romero, Kudus and Xavi Simmons, are still unavailable.

Kick-off:

  • Location: Birmingham, England
  • Stadium: Villa Park Stadium
  • Date: Sunday, 3 May
  • Kick-off Time: 12:30 a.m. IST
  • Referee: TBD
  • VAR: In use

Players to Watch

Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa)

The Argentine goalkeeper has plied his trade with Arsenal, Getafe and Wolves before finding his new home at Villa Park. He has kept seven clean sheets so far in the Premier League and also saved a penalty. The reigning World Champion has been a reliable presence between the sticks for Villa.

He has failed to keep clean sheets in the last three games and will be looking forward to keeping the Spurs strikers at bay. Villa face a Europa League semifinal either side of this Premier League fixture and are trailing behind after the first leg against Nottingham.

Rodrigo Bentancur (Spurs)

The Uruguayan midfielder has plied his trade with Boca Juniors and Juventus before making a move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2022. In 22 games, he has 2 goal contributions, including a goal against Villa in the reverse fixture, when these two sides last met in October.

At a time when the Spurs are navigating through difficult times, Bentancur will be tasked with the responsibility of dominating the midfield defensively. He also played a crucial role in helping Spurs win the Europa League last season and will be hoping to find his name in the scoresheet in Birmingham.
