Barcelona injury news ahead of Girona clash in LaLiga 2024-25 Gameweek 5
The Catalan club are ravaged with injuries.
Barcelona’s fifth game of the season will be against Girona. Against them, Barca failed to register even a single win over two league games last season. Girona were excellent the previous term.
It appeared that they might challenge both Barca and Real Madrid for the LaLiga title. But they suffered a dip in form. However, they still managed to finish the season in the top four.
This season Barcelona have had a spectacular start under Hansi Flick. They have secured four wins out of four games. Now they will be looking to make it five when they travel to Girona.
Despite mounting injuries, the team has played great football. It seems like the injuries have not affected their start to the new season. Going into their next game, we take a look at who will miss or be available for the game.

On Sunday, September 15, Barcelona will make their LaLiga return. They will be travelling to take on a formidable Girona team.
Leading the league, Hansi Flick’s team are enjoying a winning streak of four games. Nevertheless, the German coach will be without a few important players because of injuries in the next game.
Dani Olmo had to be withdrawn from Spain national due to a near-fatal injury. However, it is unlikely that he will miss much time. He ought to participate against Girona.
It was unfortunate for Fermin Lopez to sustain a thigh injury during Spain U-21’s training. It is now official that he will be out for a minimum of three weeks.
Gavi is still attempting to fully recover from the terrible knee injury he sustained during the previous season. Although he is training hard, it is unlikely that he will be hurried back into action to avoid any complications.
The centre-back from Uruguay, Ronald Araújo, is recovering from a serious hamstring injury he sustained during the Copa America 2024 campaign. If Araujo’s rehabilitation regimen goes well, he might return to action by the end of the year.
According to reports, Frenkie de Jong is reluctant to have surgery on his ankle. He may never fully recover if the procedure is not successful. He won’t be fit again until early 2025 if agrees to surgery. To heal quickly he is working with Barca‘s medical team.
Andres Christensen sustained an injury early this season. He was heavily linked to a departure in the summer. He could be involved for Barcelona in the second half of the season as he recovers from a serious knee injury.
After breaking through under Flick, Marc Bernal was very unfortunate to suffer a knee injury against Rayo Vallecano. After undergoing ACL surgery, Bernal will be sidelined for a full year.
