Aleix Garcia is a former Man City player

Two Catalan teams, Barcelona and Girona, are preparing for a hectic summer as the 2023–24 season draws to a close. Girona will have a difficult time hanging on to their top players while Barcelona looks to bolster the roster with fresh additions.

One of Girona’s budding players, Aleix Garcia, in particular, may draw attention during the impending summer transfer window.

Since the beginning of the year, Garcia has been connected to a move to Barcelona. The midfield player was even linked to the club in January, but the deal fell through. The fact that Barcelona passed up Aleix Garcia in January could be a huge advantage for Bayer Leverkusen.

Ivan Quiros (via Fabrizio Romano) reports that the recently crowned German champions have inquired about Aleix Garcia’s availability for the upcoming summer.

As Xavi Alonso seeks to strengthen his alternatives in the middle of the park, Garcia has surfaced as one of Leverkusen’s possible targets this summer.

While Girona and Leverkusen have not yet had any discussions about Garcia, the Spaniard is one of the team’s possible transfer targets.

As was previously noted, Barcelona expressed interest in signing Aleix Garcia early in the season and was even connected to a January transfer for the midfield player.

Though rumours regarding an interest in the Spanish international are still circulating, Barça have not held any further negotiations since. But for the time being, it appears that Barça would prefer to sign a defensive midfielder than a player such as Garcia.

In order to achieve this, the team is getting closer to signing Guido Rodriguez, who might arrive in the summer from Real Betis.
