Bayern contact Zinedine Zidane for vacant managerial role
The German giants are looking for a new manager
Reports in Spain suggest that Bayern Munich contacted Zinedine Zidane recently to find out whether he is interested in taking charge of the club.
Thomas Tuchel will leave the club at the end of the season. Bayern have not played their best football under Tuchel this season. Their decade-long domination in the Bundesliga is set to end as Bayer Leverkusen are on the verge of lifting the title. A lot of questions have been raised and there were instances when Tuchel’s job was at risk. His side is still in contention to win the UEFA Champions League and this is the biggest positive for them.
Bayern Munich were aiming to appoint Xabi Alonso as their next manager. However, the Bayer Leverkusen manager decided to extend his stay at the Bundesliga leaders for at least one more season.
In recent days, Bayern contacted Zidane’s agent to convey their interest in appointing him as Tuchel’s successor. Club officials want to know whether Zizou would be interested in returning to the bench this summer with them.

Zidane has turned down multiple job opportunities in the three years since he left Real Madrid, but Bayern may be the biggest club that he has been offered a chance with. It remains to be seen whether he is open to taking the reins at the Bundesliga giants.
The former Ballon d’Or winner was back in Turin recently though, and was asked by a reporter about a return to the Old Lady. “Coach one day in Italy? Why not?” he replied.
“Anything can happen, but at the moment I’m doing something else. I’m sure I’ll return to the bench, I’d like to coach again.”
Zidane had around a 65% win rate as Real Madrid’s manager. He led the Spanish club to two LaLiga titles and four Champions League honours (one as an assistant manager). The German clubs have set their eyes on one of the best in the business.
