Kyle Walker was close to joining Bayern last summer

Bayern Munich are still interested in Kyle Walker. Last summer, the German powerhouses had a good chance of signing the Manchester City player, but Pep Guardiola convinced him to stay in the final minute. Walker then agreed to a new contract that would keep him at the Etihad until June 2026.

Since then, he has continued to play a crucial role in the Treble holders’ attempt to win the Premier League for a record-breaking fourth time in a row.

During Kevin De Bruyne’s extended injury absence earlier in the season, the right-back for England filled in as captain. Walker is 33 years old and nearing the end of his illustrious career, but his outstanding play has piqued Bayern’s interest once more.

The player and City are both aware that the Bundesliga team will be back in the running for the right-back when the summer transfer market opens. The Bundesliga team plays Real Madrid in the opening leg of the Champions League semi-finals next week.

This was made clear when City made a recent casual query regarding Jamal Musiala’s potential release at the completion of the campaign. The English champions are huge fans of the £80 million-rated German playmaker, as the Daily Star Sunday revealed last month.

Given Walker’s experience and skill set, Harry Kane, the striker for Bayern Munich and a former Spurs teammate, would undoubtedly back a move for Walker.

Walker has an enormous amount of cutlery. He moved to City in July 2017 for £50 million, and since then, he has captured five league titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and the Club World Cup in December of last year.

After England’s summer Euros, it’s unclear if the former Sheffield United player still wants to try his luck overseas, but if so, Bayern are undoubtedly at the top of the waiting list.
