Benin announce preliminary squad for AFCON 2025

Benin are set to make their fifth appearance in the competition.
Manager Gernot Rohr has released the preliminary roster of the Benin Cheetahs ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The final squad will be revealed following a training session in Morocco.
The Cheetahs will convene for a training camp in Morocco, following which the definitive roster of players for AFCON will be revealed.
They are making their fifth appearance in the regional showpiece. Under the skilled supervision of Gernot Rohr, Benin are set to confront Africa’s top title.
Gernot Rohr, who was recruited in February 2023, has swiftly rejuvenated their football. The German-French tactician brings his abundance of experience, having already managed Nigeria to a third-place result at the 2019 AFCON and Gabon to the quarter-finals in 2012.
They clinched their spot in Morocco by placing second in Group D of the qualifiers, alongside Nigeria, Rwanda, and Libya.
They topped Rwanda on goal differential after the two teams finished with 8 points. Benin’s ability to achieve results under pressure has been very important in their comeback to the continental scene. Benin are in group D and will start their trophy quest on 23rd December against DR Congo.
