Coach Hossam Hassan has picked up his final squad for AFCON.
Egypt manager Hossam Hassan has named his final 28-man roster for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, choosing a team that he feels will return the country to the top of African football.
The seven-time winners are participating in the competition from 21 December to 18 January, with hopes of making another title run.
Hassan has chosen a squad that emphasises balance throughout the entire field by fusing seasoned leadership with up-and-coming youngsters.
The roster comprises only a limited number of international footballers, but the most prominent name remains Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah, the team leader and central figure of Egypt’s front line.
Additionally, the coach has brought up Mostafa Mohamed of FC Nantes and Omar Marmoush of Manchester City, who are anticipated to offer depth and attacking dynamism.
The historic seven-time African winners will commence their Group B campaign against Zimbabwe on 22 December.
They will then face an uphill task against South Africa before closing the group round against Angola. With a combination of old names and emerging potential, Egyptian supporters will be wanting a great showing as the team attempts to recapture continental supremacy.
