Jode Bellingham could follow the path of his older brother in the sport.
According to reports, Borussia Dortmund are keeping a careful eye on Jobe Bellingham’s progress at Sunderland and are considering a move for the gifted midfield player.
Borussia Dortmund are apparently mulling a move for Jude Bellingham’s younger brother Jobe, four years after the club signed Bellingham. The 19-year-old is in communication with the Black and Yellows, who are keeping tabs on his progress at Sunderland, according to Sky Sport.
The team thinks the “Mini-Bellingham” might have the same influence and follow a comparable career path as his sibling did at Dortmund.
After just signing an extension, the highly regarded attacking midfielder still has four years left on his current contract. It is estimated that several major teams are interested in signing him, and his signing will cost about 25 million euros. Borussia Dortmund’s pursuit have not yet progressed to a definite stage, the report says.
Jude, Jobe Bellingham’s older brother, was acquired by BVB from Birmingham City in 2020. Before making a high-profile move to Real Madrid last year, Jude distinguished himself as one of the globe’s top midfielders.
Jobe Bellingham’s rise at Sunderland
Although Jobe Bellingham’s primary position is attacking midfield, he can very well play both defensive and number eight. He has played 60 games for Sunderland, scoring nine goals and dishing out two assists. Bellingham recently got his England U-21 debut as well.
Jobe Bellingham might be among the players Borussia Dortmund looks to sign when they reorganize their midfield in the summer. It will be interesting to observe whether Jobe decides to switch to BVB soon, as his brother did.
Even while he isn’t quite as powerful as his brother at the same age, it is still noteworthy that he can frequently influence Championship games at the age of 19. This could be a wise decision, provided the team can acquire Bellingham the Younger for a fair price and neither the club nor the supporters have unrealistic expectations. Perhaps BVB needs a little bit of Bellingham.
