Brazil are the most successful team in World Cup history after winning five trophies

The domination of Brazil in FIFA World Cup history is unmatchable. From Cafu, Ronaldo Nazario to Pele, until the end of the twentieth century, Brazil already had four World Cup trophies, and in 2022, captain Cafu led Brazil to their historic and record-breaking fifth trophy.

However, Brazil have failed to clinch even a bronze medal, and the closest they came was in 2014, when Germany thrashed them 7-1 in the semis on their home soil. A series of near misses followed, and Brazil failed to make it past the quarterfinals ever since then.

They roped in former Real Madrid gaffer Carlo Ancelotti, as he will become the first foreign coach to lead the South American nation into the World Cup. They are drawn against tough opponents like Morocco, Scotland and Haiti, but remain the favourite to top Group C.

In this article, we take a close look at their predicted eleven for the FIFA World Cup 2026:

Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil predicted lineup for FIFA World Cup 2026 (4-2-3-1)

GK – Alisson Becker

The Liverpool custodian is a two-time English champion and will face stiff competition from his compatriot Ederson. Despite a few nagging hamstring issues during the 2025-26 campaign, he managed to clinch 14 clean sheets in 36 appearances.

He is arguably one of the best in business, and his positional genius and exceptional shot-stopping abilities during 1v1 make him Ancelotti’s most preferred choice for the role.

RB – Wesley Franca

The 22-year-old is an absolute great talent who impressed a lot for Roma and has been linked with Real Madrid. He scored 5 league goals as a full back this term and found the back of the net against tough teams like Juventus and Fiorentina.

He is lightning-fast, exceptionally strong in physical duels, and carries an aggressive attacking instinct and can help the team massively by making overlapping runs from the right flank. He will be one of the most exciting talents to keep an eye on.

CB – Marquinhos

The Brazilian captain is on the verge of leading PSG to their second consecutive UEFA Champions League trophy after recently winning the Ligue 1. An absolute legend, he has won 11 Ligue 1 titles and was part of the Brazil 2019 squad that won the Copa America.

He is a defensive stalwart, and when Brazil competes against heavyweights and faces elite strikers, his experience and presence in the back will be key. He will be keen to help Brazil get back to a podium finish after a long wait of 24 years.

CB – Gabriel Magalhaes

The new English champion in the Brazilian squad, Margalhees, is coming after marshalling one of the tightest defences in the English top flight and helping Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal clinch the Premier League. He was literally unbeatable in the air and contributed to a number of goals and assists from set pieces.

His blend of raw physicality and composure on the ball makes him one of the best centre-backs, and owing to Eder Militao’s injury, he becomes Ancelotti’s natural choice for the centre-back role.

LB – Alex Sandro

After winning 12 major titles with Juventus, he made a move to the highly competitive Brazilian league, where he went on to win the Copa Libertadores with Flamengo. After missing the last edition of the World Cup due to hamstring and injury concerns, he will be keen to make a solid impact for his team.

He will face stiff competition from Douglas Santos, who is coming after a stellar season with Zenit Saint Petersburg. While Wesley offers high-intensity overlapping runs from the left flank, Sandro provides perfect tactical counterbalance on the left.

DM – Casemiro

After he departed Bernabeu, footballing pundits wrote him off, but the Brazilian legend went on to play a crucial role in helping Manchester United make it to the Europa League finals last season and securing a continental spot this season under Michael Carrick. He is coming after an emotional farewell at Old Trafford.

After being dropped from the national team during Dorival’s tenure, he made a comeback after reuniting with his former Real Madrid gaffer Carlo Ancelotti and has played almost every game under him in the Brazil team so far.

DM – Bruno Guimaraes

One of the finest defensive midfielders in the world, the Magpies captain is coming after being felicitated as Newcastle United’s 2025-26 Player of the Year. Despite missing the first few games, he made a strong comeback, scoring 9 goals and 5 assists.

His aggressive tackling style perfectly complements Casemiro, and this pair will be one of the best defensive midfield duos in the World Cup. He also boasts an exceptional passing accuracy and can deliver those pinpoint crosses and passes.

RM – Raphinha

The Brazilian winger is coming after winning two back-to-back La Liga titles with FC Barcelona and was one of the worst nightmares for opposition defences in the Spanish top flight. In 22 games, he had sixteen goal contributions, including 13 goals and 3 assists.

During the recent CONMEBOL qualifiers, he was one of Brazil’s most consistent forwards and also played a prominent role in the last edition under Tite in Qatar 2022.

CAM – Neymar Jr

The internet was flooded with emotional messages and tweets as soon as Carlo Ancelotti named Neymar in the FIFA World Cup 2026 squad for Brazil. One of the most technically gifted football players in modern times, Neymar would be keen to add the World Cup silverware to his trophy cabinet.

Ancelotti pointed out that he brings unique, unpredictable qualities to the team. Though there will be questions over his fitness concerns and whether he can play for 90 minutes, we expect him to start games for Brazil as his presence gives a psychological advantage to Ancelotti’s men.

LM – Vinícius Júnior

At 25, this will be Vini’s second World Cup appearance, and the Brazilian winger is one of the best talents in modern-day football. He is coming after an excellent season with Los Blancos. Though Madrid failed to win UCL and LaLiga, Vini’s individual brilliance with 21 goal contributions stole the show.

He is the undisputed crown jewel of Ancelotti’s frontline, and hardly does any fullback in the world exist who can comfortably defend Vini and match his speed and acceleration for 90 minutes.

ST – Matheus Cunha

After making a high-profile move from Molineux to Old Trafford, the Brazilian striker is coming after a brilliant season with Manchester United. In his maiden season with the Red Devils, he has 12 goal contributions in 33 games and was in sublime form.

After failing to make it to Tite’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, he turned setbacks into a comeback and will be spearheading Brazil’s attacking unit in his World Cup debut in North America.
