xFive key takeaways from Canada's draw over Bosnia & Herzegovina in FIFA World Cup 2026

Canada will meet Switzerland on June 25 IST.

Canada will head into their final Group B fixture for the FIFA World Cup 2026 against Switzerland with qualification to the knockout stage still within reach. Jesse Marsch’s side followed up a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina with an emphatic 6-0 victory over Qatar to move onto four points.

Canada remain unbeaten in the tournament and enter the match with Switzerland knowing they have four points as well. This could potentially determine the outcome in Group B.

Canada are expected to maintain the same majority of the players from the match against Qatar. The majority of those same players are expected to start against Switzerland for Canada to advance to the round of 32. The side is expected to line up in a 4-4-2 formation.

Who all will be expected in the starting lineup?

Maxime Crépeau is expected to continue in goal for Canada. The back four is likely to consist of Alistair Johnston and Richie Laryea as the full-backs, with Luc de Fougerolles and Derek Cornelius expected to form the central defensive partnership.

Midfielders Tajon Buchanan and Ali Ahmed will likely play on the left and right wings, respectively, while Canada captain and centre midfielder Stephen Eustáquio and Nathan Saliba will provide central-midfield support. Collectively, these four players will help maintain balance and provide service to Canada at both ends of the field.

Canada’s attack is expected to feature Jonathan David and Cyle Larin in a two-man strike force. Both forwards have played important roles for the national team and provide a goal-scoring threat in the final third.
